Up North Lake Finder does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information.
Last updated: July 28, 2026
There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics and no advertising. The app works fully offline, and nothing you do in it is sent to us or to anyone else.
None. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information about you.
The app can request access to your device's location, and uses it only to center the map near you and to sort lakes by distance. Your location is used on your device only. It is never sent to any server, never stored by us, and the app works normally if you decline the permission.
Favorites and catch log entries you create are stored locally on your device. They are not uploaded, backed up to us, or shared. Deleting the app removes them.
Map tiles are rendered with Apple Maps, which is part of iOS. Apple's handling of that map data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Fish survey, stocking, regulation, public access, ice-out and state record data is sourced from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. Fish consumption advisories and statewide guidelines are from the Minnesota Department of Health. All of it is bundled inside the app, so no requests are made to DNR or MDH servers while you use it. Links to official pages open in your browser only when you tap them.
We do not collect or retain any user data, so there is nothing for us to retain, sell or disclose.
This app does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Because the app collects no personal information at all, this applies to every user.
Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised date above.
